3 Ways To See If Your New App Idea Could Be Successful With Consumers

With the success of so many new apps in the last few years, it’s common for people to think up an idea for an app and then get excited at the prospect of creating this app, releasing it to consumers, and then raking in the money for years to come. However, not every idea for an app is going to be a winner. So if you think you’ve thought of something that could change the lives of people, solve a problem that currently doesn’t have a solution, or just make people happier, here are three things you should do to see if your new app idea could be successful with consumers.

Learn If There’s A Current Demand You Would Meet

Just because you or the people within your small network think your new app idea would be great doesn’t mean that the population, in general, will like it or use it. So to see if people aside from your friends or family would consider buying this new app you’re considering building, you should do some research to see if there’s any current demand for something like what your app would do. According to Rahul Varshneya, a contributor to Entrepreneur.com, this can easily be done by using the Google Keyword Planner tool to see how many people are searching for things that could be considered related terms to what your app idea would address. If there’s a large amount of these types of searches, you might be onto something with your app idea.

Do Your Own Market Research With Surveys or Focus Groups

Once you’ve done some of the preliminary research mentioned above, you should move onto more personal research based off of your exact idea for your app. According to Nick Freiling, a contributor to Medium.com, recommends that you gather a random group of people that would fall into your target market and ask them very specific questions to see if your app idea would appeal to them. This should include questions about any demand for your type of app and what someone would be willing to pay for a product such as yours. Make sure you take your time crafting the right questions for these surveys or focus groups so that you glean the exact information that you need to make an informed decision.

Run Preliminary Tests

With positive results from your research, it’s time to start building your app. As it goes along, it’s important that you’re able to troubleshoot any problems that might arise. When your app gets far enough along, you can get people to beta test the app for you. But before this, you should look into continuous testing methods that will allow you to uncover any problems with your app before your consumers do.

If you have a brilliant idea for an app but are sure if it will work out the way you want, consider using the tips mentioned above to give you confidence in your idea and in your final product.
